The Experience
Via Colori® Stafford! is a two-day, family-friendly event, taking place from 10:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 28, through Sunday, September 29, 2024.
The 2024 event will be held at the Stafford Regional Airport. Accessible parking and portable restrooms will be available. Food vendors will be on-site should you wish to purchase refreshments. The event is free for participating artists and the public, and you’ll find a number of community organizations and sponsor tables to visit, plus activities for children. Artists will be busy creating their chalk paintings on well-spaced squares, so you’ll be able to walk around and watch them in action.
Become An Artist
- Register to create a 4×4, 6×6, or 10×10 square on your own, with a partner or a group. The deadline is 9/1/2024 (will close sooner if all spots are filled).
- If you register by May 31, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in an Art Show hosted by Central Rappahannock Regional Library Howell Branch during July and August.
- Participate in a workshop with the 2024 Featured Artist, Sara Wenger-Justicia, to get a feel for the festival and learn some tricks from an experienced artist. The in-person workshop (Via Tutori) will be held at Howell Library, Thursday, August 22, 2024, 5:30-7:30.
- Because our sponsors believe in supporting the arts, there is no charge for the artists, and materials are included.
- There will be an artist’s reception and materials pick-up on Friday, September 22 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stafford.
Why Become A Volunteer?
Have you ever wanted to be part of a big, exciting art show, but drawing isn’t your thing? Via Colori Stafford is your opportunity to see it all from the inside. Volunteers are essential to making it an amazing, family-friendly event to celebrate the arts and the creative process and volunteers are absolutely critical to making this festival happen. In fact, WE are volunteers!
Why should I sponsor an artist?
Via Colori® offers you at least one advantage not found at other festivals. At most art shows, the public sees the sponsor’s name once. But, because Via Colori artists are creating the work on the pavement during the festival, it changes each time the public passes. People return again and again to mark the progress of the work, and they see your name on a street label above the artwork signifying your donation.
Your sponsorship will be listed on our Square Sponsors Board, which prominently highlights all of our donors. You’ll also have access to our Sponsor/Artist Respite tent throughout the event, and you are welcome to provide small promotional notes/items to display on the tables in that tent. The main benefit is that you directly help our beneficiaries – the cultural, educational, student leadership, and student aid projects of Stafford County Public Schools. All donations/sponsorships (monetary/gifts) are tax-deductible and a receipt will be provided for your records.
If you are interested in a Major Sponsorship with greater print, social media, and/or radio promotional benefits, contact us at ViaColoriSales@gmail.com.
What is
Via Colori®?
The Via Colori® Street Painting Festival is the modern-day version of a centuries-old tradition in which dozens of volunteer artists create large-scale pastel artworks directly on the pavement of our county’s streets. In 2024, Via Colori® Stafford will be held at the Stafford Regional Airport in Stafford, Virginia, a location that provides plenty of parking and space to spread out.
Bring the entire family to watch the artists in progress, enjoy music on the Via Musica stage, and visit nonprofit organizations’ booths and food vendors. Kids will love Via Bambini, where they’ll get to create their own works of art! Via Colori® Stafford is hosted by Discover Stafford Museum & Cultural Center and the Rotary clubs of North Stafford and Stafford with support from our sponsors.
Scott Mayausky, Stafford County Commissioner of Revenue and previous Chairman of Discover Stafford County Museum & Cultural Center, talks about the magic of Via Colori® Stafford.
