About Us
Via Colori® Stafford is a collaboration between the Stafford Museum & Cultural Center, now known as Discover Stafford, and the Rotary clubs of North Stafford and Stafford.
Via Colori® Stafford, taking place the weekend of September 28-29, 2024, is Stafford, Virginia’s annual street painting festival featuring all genres of area artists as they create amazing large-scale images with chalk. Each year, thousands of people come to this two-day event to watch the artists; while local food vendors provide lunch and goodies, musicians and entertainers bring joy, children engage in their own artistic endeavors, and community non-profits share all they do for us. It is truly a celebration of art and our Stafford family.
The Stafford County Museum & Cultural Center established Via Colori® Stafford as a long-term celebration of culture, now an annual signature fundraising event and family-oriented gathering for the county and surrounding region. Funds raised through sponsorships of Via Colori® Stafford go right back into Stafford County through the Museum and local efforts of the Rotary Club of North Stafford and the Rotary Club of Stafford.
Our Vision: An annual Stafford County event that celebrates the artistic process while drawing the community together.
Our Mission: To teach and inspire the artistic process, promote Stafford’s history and culture, and highlight non-profits as
partners that enrich the community.
Stafford County Public Schools has been chosen as the 2024 Via Colori® Stafford beneficiary.
Through the generosity of our sponsors, the funds raised during Via Colori® 2024 will support Stafford County Public Schools’ Stafford in Action Week, elevating student success by combating hunger. Stafford in Action Week, taking place the 4th week in September and culminating at Via Colori®, is a community-wide initiative to help Stafford County Public Schools ensure all students are prepared to excel with access to nutritious meals, regardless of their ability to pay.
Via Colori® Stafford will also continue to support projects that promote local history and culture, such as creating historical and cultural murals in the schools.
About Discover Stafford, the Stafford Museum and Cultural Center
Now known as Discover Stafford, the Stafford Museum & Cultural Center’s mission is to collect, preserve, interpret, and promote the diverse history of Stafford County in order to build an understanding of our past and its connection with the present. Currently, its presence is mainly virtual with a robust collection of history and artifacts available to browse online as well as resources for students and teachers.
Discover Stafford has embarked on a multi-year program to fund murals in Stafford County Public Schools. Since 2021, the program has funded 14 murals with more anticipated in the near future. The annual program encourages history and art teachers, principals, students, and the greater interested community in each school to choose a facet of local history around which to design a mural. Some have created historical timelines and some have chosen to feature the immigrant experience and pride in their new home. Some have captured the postal system through the years or famous inspiring Staffordians of the past. Proceeds from Via Colori® Stafford will continue to fund this effort to make our shared history relevant to the youth of Stafford County.
Discover Stafford works closely with Stafford County Historical Society and has established a 44-foot history wall inside Stafford Hospital. Discover Stafford is working toward establishing a physical location in Stafford County. If you would like to get involved, you can become a Friend of the Stafford Museum and Cultural Center Foundation.
